Nowadays, environmental protection has become one of the most concerned topics around the world. Vehicle emissions are not only blown out of the exhaust pipe but we also need to have our eyes on the unburned hydrocarbons from the fuel tank. This is where our vapor pump (EVAP) and fuel tank isolation valve come in play. The EVAP can scrub the activated carbon casing when negative pressure is lacking in the intake cycle, making it particularly suitable for modern engines in hybrid vehicles or direct injectors. Rheinmetall’s EVAP, manufactured locally in Shanghai by a Rheinmetall Automotive joint venture, was awarded because of this unique technology reducing hydrocarbon emissions.
“It is a great honor for us to receive this award”, says Bright Yin, Head of Engineering at Pierburg in China, who accepted the award on behalf of the company. “We are very proud that the EVAP has been widely recognized in the industry and we a can drive the important topic of emission reduction further on the Chinese market. It is not without reason that the project is the largest in the history of the company. So far, we have signed large orders with several internationally renowned automakers who want to integrate the EVAP”, he continues.
The International Automotive Congress was organized by Vogel Automotive Media Group, the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) at RWTH Aachen University, China National Machinery Industry and Messe Frankfurt. Besides the award ceremony, the congress features the industry’s hot topics which will further shape the Chinese automotive sector, such as new energy vehicles, autonomous driving, and connected cars, next to the reduction of vehicle emissions.
