Welcome back to our feature “Meet our Team” where we introduce employees at Rheinmetall Automotive China and their personal Rheinmetall Automotive story.
We proudly present to you Lucy Yu, Procurement Manager. Find out why Lucy Yu is passionate about her international projects and why her work is crucial for our business success.
My name is Lucy Yu and I am a procurement manager. While I am in charge of procurement activities for the large bore pistons in our plant in Kunshan, I also support the small bore pistons business for our locations worldwide, such as in the USA, Mexico, Brazil and Japan. In my previous jobs, before I joined Rheinmetall Automotive, I was part of some projects but they were limited by size and locations, e.g. only at one plant for one location. Now I am working for a project across 7 plants in small bore pistons Through these projects, I have found a lot of potential to get savings, which makes our business more beneficial .The projects for small bore pistons are challenging but I enjoy it a lot, as I could share the knowledge, information and different ideas with colleagues around the world. I really recognized the power of teamwork in this project. I can use the experience from one project to improve processes in another project and therefore make our business more efficient.
We have so many international connections. In Kunshan, I am taking care of our “small” local family and of the worldwide “big” family through my projects at the same time. Therefore, the company feels very worldly to me and I enjoy having an intimate local team at the same time without many administrative barriers.
Our management team communicates openly about our business situation and explains their decisions to us employees. This openness makes me not only feel confident and safe, but also fosters my trust in our management team. Moreover, as a procurement manager also visit new suppliers and introduce our company, including our financial figures. Every time when I’m presenting them, I really feel a strong sense of job safety and am proud to contribute to it through my work.
What I like most about Rheinmetall Automotive are my colleagues. People here are excellent. For me, it is important that I can continue to learn from my colleagues. Here we have many inspiring and talented people. That’s why this company is attractive to me. Moreover, people are always supportive. That is why I like my job so much.
I like our “Family Days”, because I can show my family, especially my daughters, where I work and who my colleagues are. That convinces them that I am very happy with my job and my company. I also highly value the flexible working time, in particular when traffic is bad. Furthermore, we have an annual health check and receive gifts on special occasions, such as national holidays or our birthdays.
