Change driven, coping with challenges Rheinmetall Automotive at the International Motor Show 2017

This year's International Motor Show (IAA) Cars takes place in Frankfurt from September 14 to 24. As at the previous event, first-tier auto-industry supplier Rheinmetall Automotive AG with its Kolbenschmidt and Pierburg brands will be displaying on an over 500-square meter stand F26 in Hall 8. Under the motto "Change Driven", the stand highlight is a large exhibit dedicated to electric mobility.

Rene Gansauge to take over leadership of the Mechatronics division

Effective January 1, 2018, Rene Gansauge (43) has been appointed CEO on the Management Boards of Pierburg GmbH and Pierburg Pump Technology GmbH and thus Head of the Mechatronics division within the Rheinmetall Automotive Group. He succeeds Olaf Hedden, who has carried out these functions since March 2014 and who has been appointed CFO on the Executive Board of Rheinmetall Automotive AG as from August 1, 2017. Concurrently, Hedden is continuing as Head of the Mechatronics division until the turn of 2017/2018.

Electric drive and battery system from Rheinmetall Automotive

Rheinmetall Automotive, a first-tier auto-industry supplier and member of the Technology Group Rheinmetall AG, is taking account of the increasing electrification of cars and commercial vehicle drivelines in its own product range. Reflecting the trend, at this year’s International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, the Company will include among its exhibits a newly developed 90 kW electric drive unit as well as a new kind of modular battery pack. The systems are currently installed in a demonstration vehicle built around a sub-compact car.

Handover on the Board of Rheinmetall Automotive AG

After 17 successful years with the Technology Group Rheinmetall, Dr. Peter Merten (63) stepped down as of July 31, 2017, from his Executive Board position as Chief Financial Officer of Rheinmetall Automotive AG to enter into retirement. At its meeting of July 11, 2017, Rheinmetall Automotive AG's Supervisory Board thereupon appointed Olaf Hedden (53), until now head of the Mechatronics division, as his successor on the Board as from August 1, 2017. To ensure a smooth handover, Dr. Peter Merten will in future serve the Company in an advisory function.

Rheinmetall Automotive with Increased Sales and Earnings in the First Quarter

In the first quarter of 2017, Rheinmetall Automotive built on the strong business development of the previous year. The member of the Rheinmetall Technology Group generated sales of €737 million, thereby exceeding the previous year’s level of €654 million by 13%. Adjusted for currency effects, the increase was 11%. Operating earnings rose by €10 million or 19% to €62 million. As a result, profitability also improved again, rising from 8.0% in the comparative quarter of the previous year to 8.4% this year.

Commercial vehicle steel pistons for China Rheinmetall Automotive agrees on strategic cooperation

In its Automotive sector, the Technology Group Rheinmetall is steadily broadening its access to China's expanding commercial vehicle market. As part of this strategy, KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH, Neckarsulm, Germany, a part of Rheinmetall Automotive AG, has now signed a license agreement with the Chinese automotive industry supplier ZYNP Corporation, Mengzhou. The agreement covers the production and marketing of commercial vehicle steel pistons for the Chinese market.
