Welcome back to our feature “Meet our Team” where we introduce employees at Rheinmetall Automotive China and their personal Rheinmetall Automotive story.
Get to know Neal Gong, Production Manager, and learn about his personal development and success story at Rheinmetall Automotive.
My name is Neal Gong and I joined Rheinmetall Automotive’s large bore piston plant in Kunshan as a production supervisor in 2013. Back then, I did not know anything about piston production. That is why I was sent to our plant in Germany and received an intensive training for two months. When I came back to Kunshan, my first task was to set up our shop floor here together with two colleagues from Germany: We laid the foundation, installed the machines, and trained the operators.
I have grown professionally along with the company for over 8 years and I have already been promoted twice. Now I am a production manager. During my promotion period, I received various kinds of trainings. I could attend a management course and I received a very detailed plan for technical management and technology training. The plant manager in Neckarsulm, Germany trained me. I often travel to Germany to get to know new technology and products. The international training opportunities in Germany and working together with international colleagues are definitely a bonus for me. Our transparent promotion strategy is beneficial for every employee in production. That’s also why we have a very stable team who trusts and relies on one another. Moreover, that is how we can guarantee a high quality product.
I really appreciate the communication style of our management. Our plant managers are always open for discussions and this is very important to me. I am also in touch with Germany a lot and I have always received support. At Rheinmetall Automotive China we trust each other and treat each other with respect, which is also very important to me.
Rheinmetall Automotive offers flexible working hours, which is an advantage for me because I live in Suzhou, which is about 60 km from Kunshan. When there is a lot of traffic, I sometimes need two hours to get to work. The flexible working hours allow me to avoid the biggest traffic jams by coming to work earlier or leaving earlier. This way, I can spend more time with my family and children.
