Get to know Daniel Shi, Application Engineer, and follow his career development, starting as an international trainee.
How I started my professional career
My name is Daniel Shi and I joined Rheinmetall Automotive China through the International Trainee Program in 2017. My major at university was Automotive Engineering and I always wanted to specialize in the powertrain area. That’s why I was attracted by the International Trainee Program. I was sent to Germany for a 6-months training period and then came back to China, where I switched from product design engineer to application engineer. I am responsible for customer communication, identify their requests and coordinate them with our internal teams to find solutions. These tasks align perfectly with my strengths. The International Trainee Program was also an excellent opportunity to expand my experience abroad and my global career network, which I still pays off for me.
Creating my own career path
What I value very much is that I am given the opportunity to actively shape my own career at Rheinmetall Automotive China. I can openly discuss my career development plans with my line manager and Human Resources and we decide together what my next career step will be. That is why I am not only passionate for my work, but also for my company.
Future perspectives
Rheinmetall Group is a very strong group with robust business foundations, which enable young talents to plan a brighter professional future and grow along with the company. In the currently dynamic and rapidly changing automotive industry, we at Rheinmetall Automotive are actively immersing ourselves in new areas of mobility. I am proud of working for a company that is shaping our future.
Working with friends and growing confidence
At Rheinmetall Automotive China, employees have a very good work-life balance supported by many policies, such as flexible working hours. We also have a very harmonic company culture. Colleagues work together just like friends and support you whenever you need them. For example, my line manager treats me more like a friend than his employee. I feel appreciated, challenged and supported by him.He enables me to develop my own work style. This way he does not only support me, but our whole team to grow stronger and fulfill our tasks more successfully. With the support from my line manager and my team members, I am more confident when standing in front of our customers. I enjoy this excellent work atmosphere very much.
Editor’s note: Daniel Shi has recently taken on a managerial role in application engineering. We congratulate our colleague on the new position and wish him all the best in his new job as supervisor application engineering.
